Sunday afternoon I participated in the St. Bernard Art Guild (SBAG) Members Fall Art Show. I won an Honorable Mention in the Not Under Glass category for my dot painting, "Veinteuno." The one-day-art-show took place at the St.Bernard Parish Government Complex Center, 8201 W. Judge Perez Dr., Chalmette, LA. The painting is one of three new dot paintings I recently completed.

art at radom now, My New YouTube Channel
Recently I created my third YouTube channel art at random now. It features my non dot artwork. Already I've uploaded two videos to my new channel. And, I have plenty more ideas for future videos.
In 2006 I started with my first YouTube channel dotdude. Right away I experimented with videos using iMovie software. As time went on I bought fancier cameras and upgraded versions of iMovie software. Then in 2008, I added my second YouTube channel, dotartdude. In keeping with the name of the channel, I focused on making videos having to do with dot imagery and my dot art.
There are plenty of ideas kicking around inside my head. Now I just need to get busy and bring some, or maybe even all, of them to fruition. I will be adding videos to all three channels.

Apha Series Music Video!
Four years ago I created patterned dot paintings that I call the "Alpha Series." Recently I decided to make a music video using still photos of the paintings. I used iMovie to assemble the images and add the "Cross Zoom" transition - which adds an animated effect. After uploading the video to YouTube, I added the music, "Swing on It (Instrumental) - Heavy Hitters" by Frederik Rubins, from the YouTube library.
In 2010 I started on a second group of paintings, but then got bogged down in the BP Oil Spill story. That tangent sort of put me in a funk and I abandoned that effort. I do plan to do a "Beta Series" that is closer to my "Alpha Series." Sketching new patterns has been a delaying factor. In the meantime enjoy this video.

Daughters of Ginger Rose
Six years have passed and my video “Puppy Whining,” continues to attract viewers. On May 23, 2013, Ginger Rose had her second litter of puppies – all female. On Thursday I filmed new videos of her new puppies. Again, I captured one of them whining. Today Ginger Rose is six years old. Look for the new puppy videos on my blog video journal or check my playlist entitled Poodles Next Generation 2.

Private Preview Party at NOLA Potter
This evening I attended a reception at a new gallery, NOLA Potter L.L.C., in Algiers Point - which is located across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter in New Orleans, LA. My art hangs on a wall close to the front door. I am one of 35 or so artists in the gallery.
Below are some photos from the reception at the gallery. There was live music, food and drink. It didn’t take long for the gallery to become crowded.

dotdude Channel Seventh Anniversary!
Seven years ago I decided to create a YouTube channel called dotdude. The digital camera that I bought in the fall of 2005 included digital video as one of its features. Through trial and error I taught myself how to shoot video and how to edit video using Apple’s iMovie software.
As the years have passed I purchased a couple of Flipcams and more recently a Sony camcorder. Some of my videos are simple observational, while others are more experimental. At times I’ve added music and sound to my videos. As the software changed, I tried new features.
Below is one of my first videos I shot. It includes an angel statue next to a small lily pond with a fountain. A number of homes in New Orleans have patio gardens that include fountains and/or ponds. So, I decided to make a still image of the statue with pond as my channel avatar.

Third Place Not Under Glass, Again!
This morning I entered art into an art show competition sponsored
by the Metairie Art Guild. It was held at the Clearview Mall in
Metairie. Participants designated three pieces to be part of the
judging. Anyway, my acrylic painting, "Once," was awarded third place in
the Not Under Glass Category. The judge was Tanya Dischler. This is the
second time I've won third place for this painting.

Puppy Whining Hits 500,000 Views!
On Thursday I noticed my video, "Puppy Whining," passed the 500,000 views mark! Over five years ago I uploaded the video to my YouTube channel, dotdude. This video remains the most popular one of the 123 videos I have uploaded to date.
Here are two playlists that involve this puppy and her relatives. The first one features videos made around the same time as the "Puppy Whining" video. The second one shows the same puppy all all grown up and the mom of her own litter.

Artist of the Season 2011-2012
Last night I received the Artist of the Season Award at Jefferson Art Guild's Annual Installation Banquet. During the year there were Artist of the Month competitions at a break following each business meeting. Members voted on the art entries. Each participant received points for participating and more points for placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. At the end of the year, the points were tallied up in order to declare a winner of the Artist of the Season. A Golden Brush, or rather a brush with a gold ribbon, was presented to me. This past, January I tied for Artist of the Month. All year long I participated in the monthly competitions.

Second Term
Before I was installed for my second term as the president of Jefferson Art Guild, I was presented with a plaque that included a gavel and the guild logo. The plaque also displayed the years 2011 - 2013. Guild members teased me that there was no backing out now. Anyway, I was installed along with the other officers. The installer used a grocery shopping theme designating me with a can of Hormel Beef Tamales. The banquet was held at Jaeger's Seafood Beergarden. We had a lot of fun dining there.

Experimental Acrylic Techniques Workshop 2
After all the positive word of mouth about my “experimental acrylic techniques” workshop, I organized a second one. Again, I encouraged the artists, who attended, to try different methods. Some even came up with their own ideas. Below is a photo of two pieces I worked on during the workshop. The left painting involved imprinting of a sponge and string followed by a teal coat on top. The right painting was created by two types of bubble wrap sitting on top of watery acrylic and a glazing of magenta and then cadmium red. The artists, who attended, had a lot of fun.
