In October of 2005, upon returning to the New Orleans area, I purchased my first digital camera. At the time I didn't realize the camera had a digital video feature. Once I discovered that ability, I learned through trial and error how to shoot and how to edit video. For 6 months I experimented with the medium, drawing inspiration from an assortment of videos I watched online.
Then in May of 2006, I made my first ever YouTube channel, dotdude. Over a ten year period I've shot video subjects that interested me and poured over that statistics provided by YouTube.
Along the way I purchased a couple of Flipcams and more recently a Sony camcorder. Some of my videos are simply observational, while others are more experimental. At times I’ve added music and sound to my videos. As the software changed, I tried new features.
Below is the first videos I shot. It includes an angel statue next to a small lily pond with a fountain. A number of homes in New Orleans have patio gardens that include fountains and/or ponds. A still image of the statue with pond served as my initial channel avatar.

art at radom now, My New YouTube Channel
Recently I created my third YouTube channel art at random now. It features my non dot artwork. Already I've uploaded two videos to my new channel. And, I have plenty more ideas for future videos.
In 2006 I started with my first YouTube channel dotdude. Right away I experimented with videos using iMovie software. As time went on I bought fancier cameras and upgraded versions of iMovie software. Then in 2008, I added my second YouTube channel, dotartdude. In keeping with the name of the channel, I focused on making videos having to do with dot imagery and my dot art.
There are plenty of ideas kicking around inside my head. Now I just need to get busy and bring some, or maybe even all, of them to fruition. I will be adding videos to all three channels.

dotdude Channel Seventh Anniversary!
Seven years ago I decided to create a YouTube channel called dotdude. The digital camera that I bought in the fall of 2005 included digital video as one of its features. Through trial and error I taught myself how to shoot video and how to edit video using Apple’s iMovie software.
As the years have passed I purchased a couple of Flipcams and more recently a Sony camcorder. Some of my videos are simple observational, while others are more experimental. At times I’ve added music and sound to my videos. As the software changed, I tried new features.

My Top Video for Three Years!
Three years ago today I uploaded some videos of my sister’s three-week-old poodle puppies. They had just started walking. Three months later I noticed that my top video was one of these videos. It had 934 views. In August, the following year, the video climbed to over 20,000 views. In 2009 it went over 30,000 in March, 50,000 in April and 100,000 by May. Today the video is up to 171,877 as I write this post. On June 7th I made a birthday video that included the parents and all three puppies. Below are the two videos: my highest viewed video and the birthday video.

My New Channel on YouTube: dotartdude
Last August I created a second channel called dotartdude. Back in 2006 I created my first one called dotdude. The new channel is going to be set aside for my experimental and arty videos. Last night I uploaded my first one to Jukebox. Also, I’ve revived my blog video process for my experimental and arty videos. Now that some features have been restored to iMovie, I will be able to play more with the video medium.

Ginger Rose Whines Past 30,000 Views
Ginger Rose, the former poodle puppy, is the star of the video "Puppy Whining." The video passed the 30,000 views mark tonight. Only three months ago the video hit the 20,000 view mark. According to the stats YouTube supplies about my channel, dotdude, the video is receiving more traffic because of video referrals from YouTube. When folks look at similar videos this one shows up under “related videos.” So, it will be interesting to see if the pace continues.

Puppy Whining Video Tops 20,000 Views!
It was little less than eleven months ago when I talked about my "Puppy Whining" video being the highest viewed video on my YouTube channel dotdude. Not only is it still my most viewed video, it crossed the 20,000 threshold on Wednesday.
My top artistic video,"Rain Drain," only ranks ninth with 1,243 views. Anyway, I'll still keep trying to make artistic ones. In the meantime, I did make a second channel called dotartdude. I figured it would be wise to claim that name since I use it so much elsewhere.

New Pages
Besides working on some new dot paintings, I have been tinkering with some new networking pages. Recently these pages have added more features that make the pages more exciting than when I first began to play with them.
Frappr centers round maps. Each participant types a city or town to add to the map. Also, a “shout-out” may be added. There are map categories for a variety of interests: books, browsers, movies, music, television, etc.
Frappr: dotdude
Yahoo has an area called “Yahoo 360˚.” It combines a blog with lists of interest, photo albums and reviews. It has some similarities to MySpace.

YouTube continues to add features. I’ve changed my page to a “director’s page.” After all, the videos I’ve uploaded I put together.
